EXPOrience the Future - A new way to experience an Expo. A virtual event works exactly as our in-person events, with many of its physical features transferring across to the digital experience. The Event will run for 48 Hours from 7 April 2021, 10:00hrs Arabian Standard Time or GMT+3, to ensure attendance from all time zones. All you need is a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone, and you can digitally attend from the safety and comfort of your office or home. 


The Meet will feature a stellar line-up of speakers, presentations, case studies and panel discussions providing access to a wealth of industry-leading knowledge, information exchange, cutting-edge insights and outlooks with actionable takeaways.

TOPIC : Challenges in financing projects during the energy transition
Ahmed Badr is the Acting Director of the International Renewable Energy Agency’s (IRENA) Project Facilitation and Support division (PFS), a new division that offers member countries dedicated project implementation support. Mr. Badr took up the position in April 2020 and brings more than 30 years of international experience in the field of banking and finance.
In his role, Mr. Badr is tasked with leading the development of the division, while spearheading the Agency’s implementation of the Climate Investment Platform, a multi-stakeholder platform in established in partnership with SE4All, the UNDP and in coordination with Green Climate Fund to streamline access to climate funding for developing countries and advance renewables deployment.
Prior to joining IRENA, Mr. Badr held several senior operational positions in the field of climate change, renewable energy, energy efficiency, water and infrastructure projects in a number of multinational financial institutions, including the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Commission (EuropeAid), and Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
Mr. Badr is certified a project infrastructure project manager, with a B.Sc in Civil Engineering and Master’s Degree in Infrastructure Economics from the Universite de Nates, France.

Cornelius is a well-respected leader and investor in the renewable energy industry and built several successful clean energy businesses and start-ups within Middle East and Africa. He has extensive board level experience from 10 years in Deutsche Bank (among others, youngest board member in Deutsche Bank Italy Group) and several leading renewable energy organisations and associations via pro bono work as well as different startup companies.
By building the international shareholder and partner network of Dii (Desertec Industrial Initiative), he was at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution in North Africa and the Middle East. A keen entrepreneur and investor in emerging markets with recognitions such as “Solar Pioneer 2015” for the Middle East, he is lecturing at several universities including St. Gallen and is a regular speaker at international conferences. He holds an MBA (Dipl. Kaufmann) from University of Passau, and speaks German, English, Italian, French and Russian.
His experience ranges from M&A transactions, asset management, developing utility scale renewable energy projects (including mid-market with private PPAs), pay-as-you-go solar to energy efficiency, including ESCO projects and new business models. Some of the projects and companies were executed in challenging settings or countries. He has led sizable organizations both in startup environments and blue-chip companies and has raised funds from angel investments to USD 100m+ projects with institutional investors. “I am glad to be able to work in renewable energy which is also my passion – we can genuinely make an impact with many different things and help people, to make our planet a better place. Colin is the Vice President for Energy, Utilities & Resources within IFS, where he has worked for over 20 years.
Colin has been involved in implementing and project managing IFS software into many project and asset-intensive organizations in Europe and worldwide.
These cover many industries including energy, utilities, pulp & paper, aviation and defense. He is therefore ideally placed to understand the real challenges faced by organizations working in the service and asset-intensive industries.
He is a key member of the IFS product directions board and plays an instrumental role in the decisions regarding IFS product strategy.
Prior to this, Colin worked as a management consultant specializing in maintenance continuous improvement philosophies such as TPM and RCM. He completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship many years ago and spent over 15 years working in automotive manufacturing including time as a maintenance and facilities manager.

Stuart is Chief Executive of the EIC, the Energy Industries Council. Prior to joining EIC in 2016, Stuart enjoyed a successful 25-year career leading global O&M businesses in oil & gas, power, renewables and defence with Rolls-Royce, Wood, Senvion and Hoerbiger.
Stuart is passionate about increasing exports, diversification, decarbonisation and being the voice of the integrated energy supply chain. He is architect of the Energy Exports Conference which brings 20 inward delegations to the UK each year with $500bn of project opportunities, and is author of the renowned Survive & Thrive annual report which highlights successful growth strategies in challenging markets.
Stuart has various non-executive director roles including with the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in UK and the Nuclear Innovation & Research Advisory Board. In 2019, Stuart was invited to become a Fellow of the Energy Institute.
